I had a vision of a whale, slamming down on Alaska and the Lord spoke to me and said,”Eat my body!” I understood that He was speaking through symbolism. He is our provision and healing as the bread of His body is in communion.
This painting is about the stewarding of Alaska’s bountiful resources. 45 plants and animals are represented on the back of the Bowhead whale; the Bowhead represents the table. It is an essential part of Alaska’s indigenous coastal communities. The harvest of the whale gathers the people together to bringing its life source of food and healing as they share the work, serving one another. They use every part of this incredible gift from the sea: a true example of stewardship. Their honor to manage and care for this resource has ensured an inheritance to the future generations of Alaska. We can follow their example by using our resources wisely and not wasting the incredible abundance of Alaska!
